
Biography
Ginette Henri was born in Moncton, NB in 1955. From an early age, her interest in the arts was very evident. She often found herself sketching on any piece of paper she could find. At ten years old, she was attracted to Jewellery and worked on pieces of odd bits of chains she found around the house.
At thirteen she discovered the dramatic arts and took part in "Theatre amateur de Moncton", and later attended the University of Moncton in the Framati Arts Department.
She has experimented with many diffrent materials and techniques. Indian beads,leather, painting on sil, drawing inks and macrame, just to name a few.
She attended the Community College in Dieppe in 1987, and discovred all the great possibilities of metal. A new world opened up for Ginette. She began to create fresh and inventive designs with difrent metals (silver, copper, brass) and precious stones, then Silver Treasures was born. Her work is diffrent and very exiting, yet still retains an artistic and personal look.
She has created many showpieces. In 1992, her necklace "Let's Twist Again" travelled accross Canada for the years to many galleries through the Metal Artes guild of Ontario. She also won the Assumption contest in 1990 for one of her special pieces.
In 1993, she took a course in Quebec in Mokume. (Japenese technique) and shellforming at the Fredericton Craft School which helped her with the development of three dimensional pieces.
In 1994, she created and exposed her highly acclaimed Acadian Janus Head during the "Retrouvailles en Acadie" festivities, and has since become president of the New Brunswick Arts and Crafts Association.
Ginette plans to sell both her commercial and unique pieces accross the Canada and the USA, and break the overseas market in the future. She continues to extend her learning and exploring: Metal, wall hangings and sculptures with diffrents materials.
